1. Who we are
The Agora Voting App (AGORApp) is a civic participation platform that lets citizens vote on public figures, respond to polls and consultations, and lets verified politicians register, manage their profiles, and access aggregated analytics. This policy applies to the mobile app, politician web portal, and related backend services operated under the name Agora.

2. What we use your data for
- Create and manage your citizen or politician account
- Verify your identity by email and support Google Sign-In
- Enable civic voting, polls, consultations, and rankings
- Process politician registration, verification, and moderation
- Handle participation fees and Premium subscriptions through Stripe
- Send push notifications (e.g. consultation alerts, vote renewal reminders)
- Provide aggregated Premium analytics to verified politicians
- Improve security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations
3. Data we collect
Account and profile
- Display name
- Email address
- Age (you must meet the minimum age required to use the service)
- Gender (where you choose to provide it)
- City and province (territory)
- Profile image, if you upload one
Activity and content
- Votes on public figures (likes, dislikes, and related preferences)
- Poll and consultation responses
- Favourites, search history within the app, and general app interactions
- Politician registration details (role, organization, territory, official sources)
Google Sign-In
If you sign in with Google, we receive information from Google according to your Google account settings, which may include your Google account email address, display name, and profile picture. We use this to create or link your account and do not receive your Google password.
Email verification and account recovery
We use your email address to send verification codes during registration, password reset codes, and service-related messages. Verification codes are used only for account security and are not published in the app.
Payments
Politician participation fees and Premium subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We receive payment status, subscription status, and limited billing metadata from Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Push notifications
With your consent, we may store a device push token to send notifications such as consultation alerts, vote renewal reminders, and important service updates. You can disable notifications in your device settings.
Technical data
We may collect standard technical information needed to operate the service (for example IP address, device type, app version, and error logs) for security, diagnostics, and performance.
4. Premium analytics and privacy
Verified politicians with an active Premium subscription may view aggregated analytics about how citizens engage with their profile (for example approval trends and demographic breakdowns by territory). Analytics are designed so that individual voters are not identified to politicians.
Where a group of responses is too small to protect privacy, data may be hidden or combined using k-anonymity (minimum group size) rules so that no single person can be inferred from the statistics shown.
5. Legal bases and consent
When you register, you are asked to accept our privacy policy, terms of service, and data processing consent. Optional consent may be requested for marketing or notification preferences where applicable. You can withdraw optional consents through in-app settings or by contacting us.
6. How we share data
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with service providers who help us operate the platform, including:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers
- Stripe (payments and subscriptions)
- Email delivery providers (SMTP) for verification and service email
- Push notification services (e.g. Expo push infrastructure)
- Analytics and monitoring tools used to keep the service secure and reliable
These providers process data on our instructions and only as needed to deliver their services. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the platform.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your data (available in the mobile app where supported)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent for optional processing (such as notifications)
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

8. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
9. Children
The Agora Voting App is not intended for children below the minimum age required to register (currently 18 years). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, authentication tokens, and monitoring for abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong password and keep your credentials confidential.
11. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
